DVD Ram discs were launched in 1996 and are most commonly use in home computers, camcorders and other personal video recorders. DVD RAM is considered to be a very reliable format since the discs actually have some built in error controls and tools to remove defects. This is the most popular technology fo use for personal home computer use such as data back up, data storage and data archival. This technology can easily copy DVD information onto the discs, as well as remove information as needed. The information is stored within special tracks to be read with compatible devices.

There are several other advantages for DVD RAM’s:

The data is designed to have a long life, estimated to be 30 years+

They can be used multiple times for writing and copying, allowing you to copy DVD’s with your home computer or media player

The system is reliable

There are disc management tools that protect data

This format is suitable for archival storage

DVD burning software is not always required

Considered to be one of the easiest DVD technologies to use

Some current disadvantages of DVD RAM are:

The technology is not always compatible with DVD+RW and DVD-RW.

It can be more expensive than other DVD technologies

DVD burning can be slower than other DVD methods

While there is some debate about which DVD technologies are the best, DVD RAM still remains the most used in camcorders and for home data back up needs.

Sometimes due to virus attacks or security reasons it is required to wipe hard drive completely. And the most common method used for this is either deleting all files manually or by formatting the hard drive. But in either case the data is not completely lost. Only the links from the allocation tables are removed but the data still exist on the hard drive. And this data can be easily recovered using hard disk recovery software. The hard disk recovery software is specialized software that can recover the information from the hard disk even after you have formatted the hard disk.

So, in order to make the files non recoverable you not only need to delete the data but have to fill it with some garbage value. This job of deleting data and making the file irrecoverable is done by some specialized software called wipe utility. These wipe utility shreds the data in such a way that it cannot be recovered again even after using the deleted file recovery wizard. Thus it offers a sigh of relief when we talk about security of data. But you should also be very much cautious while using the wipe utility as the data once delete cannot be recovered. Thus always be sure of having a backup of the important files so that you can restore them after the hard disk has been wiped.

Today every possible effort is made to secure the data and to protect the data from getting corrupted. But on other hand there is a group of people that are trying to devastate every possible try to secure the data. The most common reason for data loss is due to computer viruses. A single computer virus can infect a large number of computers and can corrupt millions of files. The most common media of transfer of these viruses are USB drives.

When a virus enters a USB drive it affects all the files and also gets attached to the computer to which the USB drive is attached. Most of the viruses gets removed by scanning them with antivirus but some virus requires to format the USB drive. In this case the data in the USB drive also gets lost. The file recovery software can not ease the problem of retrieving back of the data. Even after formatting the USB drive you can recover deleted data. These USB recovery software can recover almost all contents of the USB drive after the USB drive has been formatted. For all those storing video files in USB drive can make use of video files recovery and avi recovery wizards to recover the video files from it. So, next time you find a virus in your USB drive then format it and recover back the content with USB recovery software.

Digital cameras use the latest technology to store the images. Unlikely from the legacy cameras that used photographic film, the digital cameras has internal memory to store the images. Also you can extend the photo storing capacity of the digital camera by adding an external memory card to it. This memory card increases the storage capacity to a large value. Now you can click the pictures and they are stored onto the memory card. And you can later take the backup of the images in a CD or DVD. But if in some case you are not able to take the backup and get some pictures deleted accidentally or the memory card gets format or a virus comes into it then your priceless collection of memories get lost into bits. But now you can recover those bits and get your collection back. Using the data recovery software you can easily undelete the accidentally deleted files.

You can use the digital photo recovery wizard to get back your deleted pictures. Also if you have formatted the memory card even then also you can recover the files. You need to connect your digital camera to the computer and run from windows xp data recovery wizard. And then it will recover all the deleted files.
