When your computer runs slow there is a cure for it

While Windows operating systems have been around for a very long time, with every version that has been introduced Microsoft have succeeded in ironing out a few glitches whilst introducing a few new ones at the same time. Having said that, Microsoft Windows remain far and away the most popular operating system of all time, and with a market share of around 90% to prove it.
The number of pc’s operating through Windows now runs into the hundreds of millions worldwide, so when some something goes wrong with Windows, the whole world sits up and takes notice.

Over the last few years, there has been an increased awareness of a problem where a pc running slow has become an increasing phenomenon both in the home as well as in the office. Initial impressions among the millions affected was that there was a new problem building up in the system, possible some kind of bug or even a virus introduced by those who have formed a love-hate relationship with Microsoft.  There was no doubt that the gradual feeling that their computer was gradually being choked to death, caused a lot of consternation to those whose computer is a major part of their life, or their key to the outside world in some cases. Particularly annoying was the really slow pc startup times that had become an everyday occurrence.

The gradual awareness that the problem was neither a bug nor virus, but rather was being caused by Windows registry. This took most of the less well informed computer owners aback, mainly because they did not know what a registry was.
The thinking behind having a registry was to cope with handling information, in configuration key form, that would handle the increasingly high amount of information on the software, hardware and profile settings for the four or five average users that would appear on even the most simple of home computers operating Windows systems. What the software engineers may have failed to take into account is that all these daily batches of information whilst running at an average of maybe 100k every day would gradually accumulate on the register to such proportions that they would gradually take away a lot of RAM on the machine and slow it down. The Microsoft engineers assumed that computer owners would be happy and capable to delve into Windows every now and again and clean out the registry. The facts were that only a few of the very intrepid were prepared to do this, as a click of a mouse in the wrong place could cause a major catastrophe.  With the increased awareness of this problem around the globe, it was only a matter of time before someone would come up with a user friendly fix pc registry solution. And so they did, and nowadays there is a very large selection of registry cleaner software available online. Some are shareware and are free for the meantime. There are other versions that are available for prices ranging around the $20-$30 dollar mark, which offer considerably more alternatives and are considered to be worth the investment as well as guaranteeing to improve pc performance.

Not so long ago, the majority of people who used Windows as their operating system, simply didn’t know that the system had a registry and why. The truth was that they didn’t need to, as it was a piece of software, designed with good intentions by Microsoft engineers to record and store some fairly comprehensive data on the computer’s operation, especially information relating to configuration and setup of new programs and software. When these phenomena became more pronounced, initial thoughts among most computer owners was that there had to be some kind of bug that was causing this slow down.

It simply never occurred to many of them, that the registry would be the problem. And that to fix pc registry would be the solution. It is possible that the increased traffic as well as its weight had caused the Windows register to accumulate too much information. However the ability to remove or clean that information was under most of the global computer owning public’s nose and they were not aware of it.

The truth is that the software industry was aware of the increasing problem and has come up with an easy solution for it. One that takes just a moment or two to access, and will have your computer back running at top speed before you can say Windows operating system registry. Or not quite.

This is because all that mountain of history that has accumulated will need to be wiped clean. After that it is down to each and every computer owner and operator to decide how often they want carry out a registry clean and never allow it to slip back to the dark days of slowness and instability.
