In more cases, memory cards are lifesavers! These small cards are designed to store data, video, and audio for a number of sources to include cameras, computer game controllers, computers, MP3 players, and more. Typically, the memory card is simply inserted into the proper USB port, following the completion of a few easy steps for saving your information. However, on occasion, memory cards will display error messages, some that we have covered in this article so you will know exactly what you need to do to resolve it. Keep in mind that you do not have to be a computer guru to resolve most of these memory sticks.

Operation Cancelled

  1. Writeable versus Write-protected – Sometimes, a USB memory card will be write protected, which is why it is important you read the details of the card being purchased. This means the card is protected from files being saved to it. In this case, the operation would be cancelled and a new, writable card would need to be used.
  2. Memory Full – If the error message reads the memory is full, you would need to erase some of the unused, stored data on the existing card or insert a new card.
  3. Compatibility – While it might seem that any memory card such as SDHC memory or micro m2 would be compatible across the board, the truth is that different components use specific cards. Therefore, always check to make sure the memory card you are buying will work in the electronic device intended.
