You have shopped and shopped, looking at a number of memory cards, finally finding the exact one you need for your laptop computer. After bringing the memory stick home, you read the label only to discover the card must be formatted prior to using.  Not being very computer literate, you have no idea where to begin. Well, we will show you step-by-step the way in which a USB memory card should be formatted – it is easy and fast!

You want to start by plugging the memory card into the USB port, whether an SDHC or micro m2 card. In most cases, the computer would automatically scan and locate something new, walking you through each step of the process. If not, go to your “My Computer” icon, finding the new removable disk. When you double click on that file name, you will see another folder called format or format removable disk. From there, a dialog box will drop – click on the start button. Do not be nervous when you see a message that all data on the memory stick will be erased – this is fine so just click on OK. From there, the system will begin to format the disk. When the process is completely finished, it is not ready for saving files.
