Multimedia and Memory Cards

Huge advancements have been made pertaining to multimedia. Today, this extends past television and movies to small electronic devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras. With multimedia coming down to a consumer level, we also see a rise in the number of people interested in sharing pictures and video. To accommodate this need, multimedia memory cards were developed. The first company to launch such a memory stick was Siemens and SanDisk over 10 years ago.  Initially, this USB memory card was only the size of a postage stamp.

From a technological aspect, this smaller memory card still offers most of the same benefits you would get from the heavier hitter, SD memory cards. Now, one of the drawbacks with the initial memory stick for multimedia was speed, meaning it was quite slow. However, MMCplus has now launched a better version that can offer tremendous high performance of as much as 52 megabytes per second. This means photos and/or video of your daughter’s wedding, son’s new baby, or your trip around the world can be stored and shared quick and easy.
