Troubleshooting USB Memory Cards
Chances are you currently use memory cards on a number of electronic devices, some of which you may not even be aware. From cameras to PDAs to computers, a memory stick is used. As with anything technical, problems can arise. First, if you find that you cannot save or retrieve files, you might have a damaged or faulty card. A common cause is removing the memory card from the reader or USB port without first stopping operation. For instance, if you were finished working on a document from your computer, having saved it to your card, you first need to give the command for the operation to finish or wait until you are notified the process is complete. Otherwise, removal of the USB memory card could create big problems.
Another potential issue has to do with compatibility. Different memory cards are designed for different electronic devices and in some cases, even different brands. Therefore, always choose the card that is designed specifically for the device. Another area in which you may need to troubleshoot is with antivirus issues. Unfortunately, if you were to insert a memory stick in a computer’s USB port and that computer is infected with a virus, chances are high the virus has now infected the card. Therefore, any other device in which the infected memory card is inserted will also be infected. The best solution is to ensure you run the latest antivirus software on your computer!
